ABOUT THE CAMP

Join us for our 29th summer as L.A.'s most popular theatre camp for young actors! Summer Acting Camp provides a safe space for creativity, growth, and imagination for performers of all experience levels. 

 

Perfect for ages 5 to 15, the Summer Acting Camp provides a wide range of daily classes including acting, singing, tap dance, movement, magic, swordplay, tech design, improv, on-camera and much more!

Located at the La Canada Playhouse on the beautiful campus of La Canada High School, the Summer Acting Camp is conveniently located off the 210 freeway near La Canada, Pasadena, Altadena, La Crescenta, and Glendale.

The Summer Acting Camp runs from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm with free extended care beginning at 7:30 am and ending at 5:30 pm!

 

Offered twice a summer, get your session at a discounted tuition for each 3-week long session with the Early Bird Discount when you enroll before March 1st!

Students learn the fundamentals of acting through creative games, text work, and scene rehearsal. This class builds confidence, imagination, and focus while helping students create believable, expressive characters on stage.

Students learn healthy vocal technique through breathing exercises, scales, and age-appropriate music training. This class builds pitch, tone, listening skills, and confidence while helping students sing clearly and blend as part of an ensemble.

Students learn the fundamentals of tap dance through musical theatre choreography and rhythmic exercises. This class develops coordination, musicality, and timing as simple steps grow into full routines and patterns.

Students learn safe, choreographed stage combat techniques - from basic hand-to-hand movement to introductory swordplay. Emphasis is placed on safety, precision, storytelling, and proper rehearsal practices.

Students build strength, coordination, and body awareness through age-appropriate yoga, stretching, and movement exercises. This class helps students move with confidence while exploring balance, flexibility, and physical expression.

Students learn the core principles of improvisation through fun, fast-paced theatre games. This class builds creativity, confidence, and quick thinking by encouraging imagination, listening, and spontaneous collaboration.

Students explore the technical side of theatre, learning how lighting, sound, and stage effects bring live performances to life. This hands-on class introduces the tools and technology used behind the scenes in a working theatre.

Students learn the fundamentals of acting for the camera, including on-camera etiquette, audition technique, and camera awareness. This class helps students perform naturally on screen using both prepared and cold readings.
